The style

Brush strokes, watercolor washes, fine ink lines.

Each portrait is painted digitally in a classic watercolor-and-ink style. The result looks at home in a traditional frame and prints beautifully on fine-art paper.

• Layered washesSoft, transparent color that lets the paper glow through, with warm light where you want it.
• Visible brush strokesLoose, painterly marks in the trees, sky and water give the picture life and texture.
• Fine ink lineworkRooflines, porch rails and window trim drawn crisply so the house is unmistakably yours.
• Clutter left outCars, bins, wires, signs and the TV left out. Only what you want to remember stays in.
